If rumours are to be believed, Amir Khan is about to cut ties with promoter Frank Warren and join up with Oscar de la Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions in America.

The WBA world light-welterweight champions has harboured dreams of fighting in America for the past few years and believes having an American promoter will help him realise that dream.

For Warren, this will come as a big blow as he may be losing the most promising boxer in Britain from his stable.

Khan is expected to defend his world title against Argentinian Marcos Maidana sometime this year, though his coach Freddie Roach believes he should relinquish the title.

The reported move to Golden Boy promotions could pave the way for a British superfight between Khan and Ricky Hatton.
